Discovering Treasures

OK, thanks to Millionaire Mom Next Door, I have rediscovered the power of visualization. I now have my own personal treasure map and a family treasure map. It sort of reminds me of a "me board". Anyways, I have listed a few of my goals below. I am def keeping it simple. I want to experience this as a true journey.....to health, wholeness and a level of fulfillment that I have yet to experience. Here are a few goals:

Goal #1: Create a healthy lifestyle
1st Step: Purge pantry of junk food
Next Step: Shop for Eat To Live foods (www.drfuhrman.com)
Third Step: Set up weekly schedule each Sunday for exercise plan and meals for the week
Who can help? What do I need to learn?: Make daily visits to www.drfuhrman.com and journal my progress; Tell close friends of my goals, re-read Eat To Live ebook to learn about healthy cruciferous veggies

OK. I am off to take a look at the pantry!

Goal #2: Active Involvement in childrens' educational experience
1st Step: Create order by decluttering backpacks with kids and setting up a set homework space
2nd Step: Review academic glows and grows from first half of the school year with each child
Who can help? What do I need to learn? email thier teachers, use Monday Memo and Monday Mail to communicate our goals, visit www.scholastic.com for homework tips

I have a total of 6 goals with two steps for each one and list of resources (people, books, blogs) for me to get the help that I need to make it happen. YIPPEEE!

Getting there from here...

O.K. I listened to a radio program today that spoke of New Year's Resolutions. Have you kept up with yours? It is half way through the year. How have you been doing? Can you remember what you resolved to do?

Well, I do....I planned to exercise consistently....and I did for about 4 months....then I fell off the wagon...off to write down a plan for the rest of the year. I have not ran in over a month. I have not even walked and I can tell a BIG difference. O.K., enough with the problem...OFF TO WORK ON A SOLUTION....Eat 2 live....6 week plan? Walk, run, train for the 5K....train til school starts again...gotta get a move on.

Hello again

O.K.....Where have I been?....finishing my masters, finding a school for my son who just finished 5th grade, teaching my youngest son how to read, teaching my dd to read with comprehension and of course, helping my dh with his goals, too. I HAVE taken some time for myself, too.

I began a mentoring relationship with a really cool lady. She has helped me with seeing things differently. I feel like I was focusing a TON of my energy on my physical body, but felt discord within. I am looking for a balance....I want to be spiritually centered, physically fit and well balanced for the challenges in my day to day life. Anyways, I plan to begin again with walking and running. I have found them both enjoyable! Checking back in soon. Sooner than 5 months. :)

Ringing in the NEW YEAR!!!

I have to say that with all of the support I am receiving from my dh, family, friens and new friends at drfuhrman. com (fitness buddies) I am doing quite well in regards to my food intake and my physical activity.

I am so blessed to have my dh train me 3 days a week on weights and more at a local gym. Yesterday, I packed my bag with clothes just in case I needed them. There are a few others at work that jog and do aerobics. It paid off...my boss led a group of us in step and at the end a co-worker led us in working on our abs and hineys. I felt great!

My eating has been 95% ETL since January 1. I feel so much better and my energy level had improved! A few days ago my 5 year old climbed into bed with me. He grabbed my arm started flicking it with his fingers. He said "Your arms don't look all googly, Mama." The flab has greatly decreased....it was so cute! I love hearing their little comments.

Weightlifting and more

I have been doing 2 hr workouts with my dh 3 days a week. I have gained muscle and lost fat. My clothes fit so much better! I am now weighing in at 174....I still have a ways to go, but the trade off of the muscle and the fat is great!

Weighing in on the week

So far this week, I have done pretty well with my food intake. I did yoga on Monday night and it felt great....I was sore from yoga on Sunday. Today I weighed in at 177.8. I am pleased with the weight loss, especially so soon. It is exciting to see the changes. I do feel better, and enjoy packing my lunches and the kids' lunches, too.

My youngest 2 children took salads, carrots and fruits to school on Monday. I was proud of them. My oldest did well, too. He took 2 PBJ, shredded wheat and mandarin oranges. It is a move in the right direction. I took salad, fruit and carrots. Today I really enjoyed my veggie wraps, carrots and water. I was truly hungry and it felt good to be more in touch with my hunger cues. I have been reading and thinking more about how Dr. Fuhrman discusses true hunger vs toxic hunger. It is really interesting. For more info, check out his blog at: http://www.diseaseproof.com. I have been enlightened to so much...I have a lot more to learn, too!

It is great to see the attitudes and actions of my children changing. Last night, I had to go to my mom's to pick up something. It was already dark and my youngest said, "O.K. Mama, are we walkin'?" He was so disappointed when I told him it was too dark to walk. We have walked to her house at least once a day for the past week. He got it!

Day 5 DETOX

O.K. I shared the evening meal with the kids....and they HATED it. It was so funny to see their faces. My youngest ate it o.k but not without holding his nose. My dh has been eating it with me (it's the one with mushrooms, kale, tomato, onion and garlic). He wants more tonight. He has always been pretty health conscious...he works out 3 - 4 times a week before his day starts. Anyways, I weighed in today a 179. I am happy about that. Tomorrow starts the first day of the 6 week plan. I know that I will do well on it!
This weeks goals are:
Drink only water
Walk/Yoga/Aerobics at school (tote bag in the car prepared for exercise)
Plan my lunch (and the kids) the night before and be set for the morning
Prepare breakfast in containers...in case we need to grab and go...

Looking forward to a successful week!

Second half of day 4 DETOX

My day went well. I felt great after yoga. I am looking forward to finding out the school aerobics schedule for next week. It should be good.

I followed the detox plan 2/3rds of the time today. B'fast and supper. I had subway for lunch..I felt ok about it all. I hope to do yoga again tomorrow or at least walk. My weight has fluctuated from 181 to 178 this week.....same scale at roughly similar times, too. I will really pay attention next week this time for changes in weight. It is possible to get down to 165 by my birthday or even less. I look forward to stabilizing in the 170's instead of dipping back up to the 180's. Gaols for Sunday:
Drink 32 oz of water ....at least
Walk for 30 minutes or do yoga for 45
Plan Monday's menu for lunch....wrap? salad? soup? all three?

Still can't believe how long it takes me to eat...I have to get up early to make it happen! Checking back in tomorrow.

DAY 4 DETOX

Walked again yesterday at a local corn maze with the kids. I also left my car at home and walked to Mama's again today. My youngest son said, "Mama, I have to walk with you to be healthy." It was sweet. I was successful in walking, and drank a little more water than the day before. My dh had a gift cert. so we went to dinner....I had a cobb salad...it was great (avocadoes, onions, and more). Just finished yoga this morning with my dd. I am now off to have my breakfast: blueberries, strawberries, and oranges.
